Additional Therapy Services

In addition to our counseling services, we also provide you with the opportunity to become an independent social worker yourself. See section below on clinical supervision. Susan is listed as a supervisor on the National Association of Social Workers Supervision Registry.  

 We also work with companies that have employee assistance programs, enabling their employees to benefit from free therapy sessions.  Critical Incident Stress Debreifing programs are offered on site when an extraordinary event impacts employees.  A specific protocol provides assessment, meeting and follow-up for these situations.

Telephone and email counseling begins May 15, 2007.  For now, this is limited to clients who have been seen in person and want additional support with specific situations.

Clinical Supervision
Preparing for a license to become an independent social worker is a major professional step; you take on tremendous responsibility for every case with which you work, and you are accountable to the State of Connecticut. Working with Susan, who will customize the training for you, you'll be going over many cases and aspects of clinical practice within the 100 hours of clinical supervision. In addition to hands-on experience, you'll have access to references and literature in the field as well as studying how your current case material relates to research publications. In addition to 1:1 consultation, Susan provides group case discussion for currently licensed workers.

Employee Assistance Program
Many companies in Connecticut provide an employee-assistance program, in which the employees have access to a confidential number to an employees' assistance counselor. Employees and their families will be granted 3 to 8 free sessions a year, which are usually not long-term commitments with the counselor. The issues can be work-related or relating to a personal crisis, and the employers receive support and feedback on how to handle the issues. This is an effective way to keep employees continuing work while managing a difficult situation.
